Phew! It's good to be back after a necessary break. Thank God for the gift of life, health and new opportunities.

Speaking of opportunities, I saw a film last night titled, 'The Rookie', about a high school science teacher and baseball coach who had missed out on the chance to fulfil his dreams of being a professional baseball player in his youth due to injury.

Several years later, and against all odds considering his age, the opportunity arose for him to revisit his childhood ambition. There was self-doubt, discouragement from his family (from his father who never supported his dream in the first place, and his wife who was concerned that he was about to leave a job with a steady income for an uncertain future).

He eventually decided to take a chance, and the rest is history. By the way this film is based on the true life story of James Samuel Morris, the oldest Major League Baseball rookie of his generation.

This film, though not religious in nature, reminded me once again of the enduring power of faith. Our God is indeed the God of a second chance. The question is: are we willing to take advantage of the various opportunities that come our way?

Do not let fear, doubt or rejection stop you from reaching for your dreams. Joshua 1:7 (KJV) says, "Only be thou strong and very courageous, ... that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest."

Remember, 'Audentes fortuna iuvat' (Fortune favours the bold)!
