Following a big victory for the Ground Zero cross earlier this year, where a federal judge threw out an atheists lawsuit to tear down the Cross, angry atheists are now appealing that ruling to a federal appeals court.

A reality show called 'Preachers of LA', has recently begun airing on tv channels in the US. My initial reaction when I read this was, 'Really?! Why?'.

A new billboard campaign in the US has sparked outrage among many Christians. The billboards are the brainchild of the group behind Jesustattoo.org, and are meant to be a form of evangelism to get people talking about Christ.
This has, however, not gone down well with a lot of Christians in the town in Texas were the campaign was begun and I don't blame them. Granted, the propagation of the gospel is important, but isn't the means of this propagation important too?
Is it right to go against God's word in order to spread that same word? Does the end always justify the means? In this instance, I don't think so!
“ ‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD."
Some may say it's the old testament. Yeah, but it's still the word of God, isn't it?

The start of something new is often the most daunting and difficult part of the process. Be it a new project, a new relationship, a marriage, a job, school, name it. Those first steps are usually the toughest.
I'm not suggesting for one second that after the initiation period it's all smooth sailing henceforth, and no effort is required to maintain what has been started. It takes a lot of hard work to keep up with any worthwhile undertaking, but I still think there's something peculiar about new beginnings.

Yesterday at church, I was having an innocent discussion with a friend when she unwittingly gave out some crucial information about a certain person whose services we both employ. For reasons of privacy, I shall not be divulging what the information was nor the service they provide.
After many years of not having one, (I left the Anglican Church many years ago), I've just acquired a new hymnbook, and it feels as if I've won the jackpot! The feelings of nostalgia that the hymns evoke are unbelievable. It's not really that I miss the Anglican church services, it's more the memories of my school days when we used to sing hymns from this book every morning at school assembly. A hymn book was among the required list of books on starting school.

This is really shocking! Racism in the church and not only that, from a black pastor to black church members? Hmmm...! There's no excuse whatsoever for this. I'm short of words! Story here.
Mr Aribisala is at his sarcastic best again! This had me in stitches. He lists several ways to get rich quick in Nigeria, but for his third recommendation really did it for me. A sad indictment of the prevalent brand of Christianity in our dear country! See what he says below:
I read the following story and found it worth sharing.
'There was once a man who always said, “this is good” to everything that happened to him. He went with his king on a shooting trip, loaded the guns and the king shot them. He loaded one gun wrong and when it went off it shot the king’s thumb off. Faced with this situation, the friend said as usual, “this is good.” Well, the king got livid and cast his friend in confinement. “No, this is not good.”

Fears are growing concerning the where-abouts of a 5 year old girl, Oluwaseun Ogungbemile. She was last seen on Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Redemption Camp, where she had gone with her parents to attend the RCCG annual convention.

Faith in Him: Subjective or Objective?
Many of today’s teaching, especially in the Body of Christ (The Church) have continued to centre on having a subjective faith rather than a complete trust in the supreme counsel and divinity of God. Subjectivity of faith gives a picture of a believer having an amount of the so called “faith” as a force bringing about a reality of the things they have desired and hoped for, majorly when it comes to materialism. It is also used on the biological aspect of our body or health. Compounding these two thoughts we have come to derive what is popularly known as the Health and the Wealth Gospel.

If this were happening somewhere in the Middle East or in an Islamic country, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary, but no, it's actually happening in California, USA!
Religious freedoms are slowly but surely being eroded, even in so-called liberal nations. Worrying times indeed! Come Lord Jesus!

The wife of the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, Evangelist Nkechi Chinyere has been delivered of a baby girl after 8 years of childlessness! The amazing thing is that she did this without the benefit of a womb!!
Medical science can only go so far. Where man's knowledge ends, God's awesomeness begins! We worship a miracle-working God! LINK

Phew! It's good to be back after a necessary break. Thank God for the gift of life, health and new opportunities.
Speaking of opportunities, I saw a film last night titled, 'The Rookie', about a high school science teacher and baseball coach who had missed out on the chance to fulfil his dreams of being a professional baseball player in his youth due to injury.

The other day I was reading a post on another blog. It had to do with the indiscretions of married people.

I thought I had a clear-cut answer to the first question, but frankly, now I'm not so sure. I think I need to study a bit more, then I'll come back and do a concluding post :-)
I read a few blogs, all Nigerian, and I am shocked at the level of aggression exhibited on some of them. I wonder if this is peculiar to Nigerians alone, or a world-wide phenomenon.
There seems to be such a high level of agression floating around just waiting for where to happen. Does it have anything to do with to the stress of everyday life? Is this behaviour restricted to cyber-space or is it a true reflection of their real lives?

A contract is a legally binding agreement entered into by two or more parties. It is mutually beneficial to all parties involved and once signed it is binding unless one of the parties breaks the contract.
Life is full of contracts agreed by negotiation because we all need somthing that another party can provide, for instance, mobile phone contracts, utilities, subscriptions, loans etc.

In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first woman on earth. She was given a box by Zeus (their chief god), with instructions to never open the box. Curiosity got the better of her, and she opened the box, letting out every evil known to man. Too late, she tried to shut the box but everything had escaped and there was no way to get them back. The only thing left in the box was hope.

I had heard a lot about the new movie, 'Man of Steel', but had paid little attention to it until I listened to an interview with some of the film cast and director. It made for interesting listening and I'm now considering going to see the movie, and I say kudos to them for incorporating Christ's story in a mainstream hollywood production.
Here are some excerpts of the interview, courtesy of Christian World News.

Exodus is a ministry that tries to help gay people overcome their sexual orientation. Well, recently the leader of this ministry, Alan Chambers, admitted he's attracted to men. He has written a letter of apology to the gay and lesbian community and has also announced the closure of the ministry. FULL STORY HERE
This is so sad! I wonder what could have happened. I wonder whether he had enough prayer cover as he embarked on this ministry. I can't imagine what his wife must be going through at this time!
I pray for his deliverance and total restoration.

Vanguard online are reporting that Prophet Timothy Obadare, a renowned evangelist and founder of the World Soul-winning Evangelical Mission (WOSEM), who died on March 21, will be buried in a gold-plated casket similar to the one Michael Jackson was buried in. The cost, a whopping $25,000!

Every valuable thing is vulnerable. Vulnerable to destruction, injury, theft or compromise. Who are your friends? Who do you share your dreams and ideas with? Who do you seek advice from?
Sometimes, without realising it, we are surrounded by enemies posing as friends, and these are the first ones we go to with our ideas and to seek counsel. These people will do everything they can to discourage you and kill your vision.

Not too long ago I watched an interesting documentary about the HIV/AIDS pandemic and the efforts being made by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS), and Western governments to influence African leaders to come round to their way of thinking with regards to combating HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Their strategies include:

These are popular Nigerian comedians. They are also professing Christians. I've only recently discovered this, and it's good to know you can listen to people like this and expect to enjoy clean, family-friendly comedy. It's also good to know there's no need for a Christian comedian to compromise their values in order to be successful. Kudos to them!
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
"Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according
to the Scriptures,
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."

Like I've said before, I watch a lot of Christian television. Well today a preacher came on to promote his book. I can't remember the exact title but it was something about Christian Billionaires, how to unlock your potential and maximize your income.

Last night I dreamt that a schoolmate of mine (high school) was critically ill, and died! Nothing could be done for her despite all efforts.
Just before I went to bed, I had wished her 'happy birthday' on Facebook and I wonder if the dream came about because I had her on my mind.
I've learned not to discountenance any dream ever since I lost a young cousin of mine in 2005. I had a dream prior to his death, but did not understand what it meant. I always wonder if he would still be alive today if only I had prayed.
I've said a prayer for my friend and for everyone dear to me, just in case there's anything to it.

This man, Alan John Miller claims to the re-incarnated Christ. He also claims his 'partner', Mary Luck, is Mary Magdalene.
According to him, he has clear memories of the crucifixion and various miracles he performed during his 'first coming'.
Alarmingly, he is gathering a considerable number of followers and people have given up their careers and business, and even upped sticks to move from their different countries to Australia where AJ, as he likes to be called, resides.
These are intelligent people with established careers, not drifters or anything like that.
Well, these are the last days. False Christs have been before and will continue to come until Jesus finally returns. People would do well to take heed.
Wonders! A Buddhist monk has set himself on fire and sustained serious injuries in the process. He was protesting against the killing of cows in Sri Lanka. Buddhism is against the taking of life in any form.
This is extreme, but what would happen if Christians were this passionate for their faith? It would certainly be a different world to what we have currently, that's for sure!
