This is according to Pastor Wole Oladiyun of Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry, Lagos, Nigeria. He reckons it is a sin for any pastor to pray for these politicians who have, in their greed for corrupt gain, misappropriated public funds and made the lives of the populace a misery .
I can sort of see the point he is trying to make, but the Bible does teach in 1 Timothy 2: 1-4 that we should pray for those in authority over us.
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions,
[and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. "
If both pastors and christians in general refuse to pray for our leadership then what hope do have as a nation? Maybe we haven't prayed enough and that is why our country is virtually going to hell in a handbasket!
